VISTAR® - Innovative Alloy Technology
VISTAR®
is a super austenitic stainless steel developed by
Noel Village (Integrity Castings) to provide the marketplace with a high
strength and corrosion resistant alloy that can be cast into all shapes
and sizes.
The characteristics of VISTAR® provide numerous opportunities for increasing product life cycles, therefore reducing your downtime and cost of maintenance.
VISTAR® provides
- Complies with the NACE MRO175/ISO15156 sour corrosion standard in
more extreme environments than super duplex alloys
- Has a typical PREN (pitting resistance equivalent)
of 47
- A maximum design stress equivalent to the highest
strength super duplex alloy
- Provides better toughness at cryogenic temperatures
than super duplex alloys
- Gives better elevated tensile properties than super
duplex alloys
- Has better processing characteristics than 6% Mo super austenitic or the 25% Cr super duplex alloys minimising cracking problems
VISTAR® has been designed for severe service
conditions most typically found in environments requiring resistance to
pitting corrosion, chloride stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen
sulphide stress corrosion. VISTAR® performs equally well in mineral and
organic acids and bleaches.
VISTAR® has been designed to minimise the rate of sigma precipitation
during cooling from casting, welding or heat treatment, which improves
foundry processing and provides for cleaner microstructures and better
corrosion resistance after welding in situations where PWHT is not
possible.
The benefits of VISTAR® are numerous making it the alloy of choice for
safety critical applications, reducing maintenance and downtime
providing increased product life times and reducing costs.
